The detail
True to size. Our model is 5'8 and wears a Small.
This is a workwear cut - straight through the body, slightly relaxed in the shoulder. If you're between sizes and prefer a closer fit, size down. If you plan to layer over knitwear, take your usual size.

Fabric: 100% heavyweight cotton, pre-washed.
Construction: reinforced stitching on stress points, classic button closure, two front patch pockets, signature back pocket detail.
Care: machine wash cold inside-out with similar colours. Hang to dry. Iron on medium if needed. Minor shrinkage may occur on first wash - the cotton is pre-washed but cotton always tightens slightly.
Colour note: the natural cotton dye may transfer slightly in the first one or two washes. Wash separately first time.
The back pocket is our signature detail - a nod to the original French hunting jackets, where it would have held game or tools. We've kept it because we like that it's useful, unusual, and not on any other jacket.
Why we made it
Lucky Beau is a small, independent British menswear brand. We make the jackets we couldn't find anywhere else - clothes with the weight and character of vintage workwear, without the vintage price tag.
The Chasseur is our take on the bleu de travail - the simple, durable jacket that French gamekeepers and rural workers have worn for over a century. We've kept the silhouette and the weight, refined the cut for a modern shoulder, and added a few details of our own.

Common questions
True to size for most people. Reviews are mixed because workwear cuts feel different from contemporary jackets - it's a straight, slightly relaxed cut through the body, not a tailored fit. Take your usual size if you want the intended look. Size down only if you specifically want it closer-fitting.
Take the larger size if you'll layer with knits. Take the smaller size if you mostly wear it over a t-shirt and want a cleaner shape. Either way, you have 30 days to return or exchange via our returns page.
The fabric is pre-washed, so the worst of the loose dye is already out. We still recommend washing separately for the first one or two cycles, especially with light colours.
It's pre-washed, so most of the shrinkage is already done. Expect minor settling on the first wash - typically less than half a size.
